Outfielder Emil Brown will be a free agent after the Kansas City Royals announced Wednesday they will not offer him a contract for 2008.
Brown, who led Kansas City in RBIs the past three seasons, became expendable when the Royals signed power-hitting outfielder Jose Guillen to a $36 million, three-year contract earlier this month.
The announcement came just hours ahead of the deadline for making such a decision.
