Fausto Carmona failed miserably as a closer last season. The Cleveland Indians should be very thankful he did.
Carmona looks to win his sixth straight start as the Indians open a three-game series against the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night at Kauffman Stadium.
Carmona struggled as a starter last season, going 1-4 with a 6.08 ERA, prompting the Indians to try him as their closer. The experiment didn’t last very long, as the right-hander blew his first three save opportunities.
